Herbert Sy

Early Life

Herbert Sy was born in the Philippines to Henry Sy Sr. and Felicidad Tan. He is the second youngest of six siblings: Teresita Sy-Coson, Elizabeth Sy, Henry Sy Jr., Hans Sy, and Harley Sy. The Sy siblings were trained in the family business from a young age. Herbert earned a Bachelor's degree in Management from De La Salle University.

Rise to Success

Herbert's career began in 1994 when he joined the board of directors for SM Prime. He has held various key positions throughout his career within the SM Group, demonstrating versatility and leadership. He is currently the Chairman of Supervalue Inc., the company that operates SM Supermarkets. He is also the Chairman of Super Shopping Market Inc. and Sanford Marketing Corporation, and a director of Alfamart Trading Philippines Inc. and China Banking Corporation.
