In 1972, Gérald Frère joined the family business, Frère-Bourgeois group, and took up the duties of Managing Director. He was appointed to the Board of Directors of Groupe Bruxelles Lambert in 1982. He was named Managing Director and Chairman of the Standing Committee in 1993, holding these positions until he retired at the end of 2011.
