Early Life
Fernand Huts was born on June 18, 1950, in Antwerp, Belgium. He grew up in the Seefhoek district and attended Sint-Jan Berchmanscollege in Antwerp. He studied law at the Catholic University of Leuven. Huts began his career in the steel industry before starting his first business, Het Veldboerke, which specialized in organic vegetables and fruits. He later transitioned to the logistics sector.
Rise to Success
In 1981, Huts became the owner of Katoen Natie, a logistics company. Under his leadership, Katoen Natie grew significantly, expanding its operations globally and becoming a major player in the industry. Over time, Huts acquired the shares of 19 partners to gain full control of the company. In 2005, he grouped all his activities under KN Holding.

His business acumen has been instrumental in Katoen Natie's success, focusing on modernization, innovation, and identifying niche markets. His focus on sustainability and the circular economy has also led to the success of Indaver, a waste processing company he incorporated into the group.

Huts is known for his commitment to culture. He has made public his decision to match the entire museum budget of the Flemish government in his cultural projects. He also acquired the Boerentoren (Farmer's Tower) in Antwerp to transform it into a center for culture and hospitality.
