Early Life
Wang Tao, better known as Frank Wang, was born in 1980 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, China. From a young age, he was fascinated by aviation and airborne devices, a passion that would later define his career. Despite not excelling academically, Wang's interest in flight persisted. He pursued higher education at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), where his aptitude for engineering began to flourish.
Rise to Success
Wang's breakthrough came with the founding of DJI in 2006. Initially, the company struggled, operating from his dorm room. However, Wang's vision and determination, coupled with his technical skills, were key to its success. DJI gained momentum with the release of the Phantom drone series, which revolutionized the consumer drone market. Wang's leadership has been described as focused and product-driven, leading DJI to become the world's largest consumer drone company, with a significant market share.
