Andrei Vladimirovich Skoch was born on January 30, 1966, in the village of Nikolskoye, near Moscow. After serving in the Soviet Army, he pursued higher education, studying at the Institute of Physical Culture. He later obtained a degree from the Moscow State University for Humanities named after M. A. Sholokhov, Faculty of Psychology.

Skoch began his career in the late 1980s and entered the business world. He initially started a bakery and later ventured into selling computer components and fuel distribution. His career took a significant turn when he partnered with Alisher Usmanov in the metals business. Together with Lev Kvetnoi, they acquired Lebedinsky Mining and a steel production plant in Belgorod. This partnership led to the formation of Metalloinvest, a major player in the metals and mining sector. Skoch holds a significant stake in Metalloinvest through his family trust.

He has donated over $117 million to various causes, including the restoration of war monuments and support for Russian medical facilities.
