Early Life
Andrei Anatolyevich Kozitsyn was born on June 9, 1960, in Verkhnyaya Pyshma, a city in the Sverdlovsk region of Russia. He developed a strong connection to the region during his upbringing, which later influenced his career and philanthropic efforts. He earned a Master of Science in Engineering from the Ural Polytechnic Institute. As a youth, Kozitsyn was recognized for saving a drowning girl, an act that earned him a medal.
Rise to Success
Kozitsyn began his professional career as a mechanic at Uralelectromed. Through hard work and dedication, he ascended through the ranks and eventually became the General Director of Uralelectromed from 1995 to 2002. In the late 1990s, Kozitsyn co-founded UMMC with Iskander Makhmudov. UMMC quickly emerged as a leading player in the mining and metallurgical industry, becoming one of the largest copper producers in Russia. Kozitsyn was appointed General Director of UMMC in 2002 and played a pivotal role in the company's success. He served as CEO of UMMC until July 2022.

Kozitsyn’s success is attributed to his strategic vision and leadership. He oversaw UMMC's vertical integration strategy, expanding its operations across mining, metallurgy, and logistics. Under his leadership, UMMC became a significant player in the production of copper, zinc, coal, gold, and silver.
