Early Life
Aloke Lohia was born in Calcutta, India, on November 27, 1958. He received his Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Delhi. His father, Mohan Lal Lohia, was a successful businessman who established the family business in Indonesia in 1976.
Rise to Success
Lohia's career began in Indonesia, where he served as the Finance Director of P.T. Indorama Synthetics from 1979 to 1987. In 1988, he moved to Thailand and founded Indorama Chemicals (now Aurus Specialty Company Limited), which produced furfural alcohol. He established Thailand's first worsted wool yarn manufacturer in 1994. Recognizing the high demand and short supply of Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) in the packaging industry, Lohia set up Thailand's first PET production company, Indorama Polymers, in 1995. In February 2010, Indorama Polymers was delisted, and its parent company, Indorama Ventures, was listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand. Lohia has expanded Indorama Ventures globally, with operations in 31 countries.

Lohia's key strategies include strategic acquisitions and a focus on sustainability. Indorama Ventures has made numerous acquisitions since 2014 to expand its global footprint. In 2022, the company acquired Oxiteno, a Brazilian producer of surfactants, for $1.3 billion. Lohia emphasizes the importance of innovation and high-quality products. His vision includes driving the digitalization of global operations and introducing bio-based and recyclable feedstock.
Philanthropy
Aloke Lohia and his wife co-founded the IVL Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on helping underprivileged and abused communities. The foundation supports various initiatives, including providing medical supplies and education.
