Early Life
Ali Erdemoglu was born in 1959 in Adıyaman, Turkey. He is the youngest of five siblings. In 1970, his family moved to Gaziantep. He started working in the carpet trade with his father at a young age.
Rise to Success
In 1970, Ali and his father, Mehmet Erdemoglu, founded Merinos Carpet with two rug-weaving looms. Along with his brother İbrahim, Ali acquired a 51% stake in SASA Polyester in 2015 for $102 million. They later increased their stake to over 75%. SASA has since become a major player in the production of polyester and a key supplier in carpet manufacturing.
Key Business Strategies
The Erdemoglu brothers' key strategy was the acquisition and expansion of SASA Polyester, which significantly increased in value. They also focused on the growth of their family's Erdemoglu Holding, which includes Merinos Carpet and Dinarsu Carpet.
Philanthropy
The Erdemoglu family is known for its philanthropic activities. In 2020, Ali Erdemoglu donated masks and food boxes to Adıyaman and Besni during the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, he donated 2 million TL to flood victims in the Black Sea region. In 2023, the family announced they would build a nursing home, police and gendarmerie lodgements in Besni.
