Early Life
Alfredo Egydio Arruda Villela Filho, a member of a prominent banking family, was born in Brazil. His parents tragically died in a plane crash when he was 12 years old. He was raised by his aunt. He graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering from the Instituto Maua de Tecnologia and later earned an MBA from Fundacao Getulio Vargas.
Rise to Success
Alfredo's career trajectory is deeply intertwined with the financial sector. After his great-uncle Olavo Setubal died in 2008, he was chosen to lead the family business. That same year, the family's Banco Itau merged with Unibanco, forming Itaú Unibanco. He became the CEO and General Director, as well as the largest shareholder of Itausa, a holding company that controls Itaú Unibanco.
