Early Life
Alexander Evnevich was born on July 5, 1959, in the Vitebsk region of Belorussia. He spent his childhood in the village of Beshenkovichi, where he attended a distance-training secondary school specializing in mathematics. In 1979, he moved to Leningrad (now St. Petersburg).
Rise to Success
Evnevich's career began in 1981 at the Vedeneev All-Union Research Institute for Engineering Hydraulic Equipment (VNIIG). He held various positions there, including engineer, researcher, and deputy head of the institute, focusing on economic affairs. In 1994, he co-founded Orimi Trade with Sergey Kasyanenko and Dmitry Varvarin. The company initially focused on food supplies but later concentrated on tea and coffee trading. By 1997, Orimi Trade held a significant market share, and in 1999, they launched their own production facility.
Key Business Strategies
Evnevich's strategic moves included the establishment of Maxidom in 1996 with Aleksandr Kats and Larisa Cherepanova. Maxidom became one of the first DIY (Do It Yourself) stores in Russia, expanding its operations. In 2020, Maxidom acquired the Russian subsidiary of Castorama, a British company, further solidifying its market presence. Furthermore, according to Forbes, in April 2025, Evnevich cofounded Orimi, Russia's largest Russian producer of tea and roasted coffee.

Evnevich is known to be a sponsor of the Leonhard Euler Charitable Foundation for Mathematics.
