Early Life
Vladimir Voronin was born Vladimir Bujeniță on May 25, 1941, in the village of Corjova, Moldavian SSR, Soviet Union (now Moldova). He graduated from the Cooperation Tekhnikum of Chișinău in 1961, and the All-Union Institute for Food Industry in 1971. His educational background also includes studies at the Academy of Social Sciences of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (1983) and the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Soviet Union (1991). He began his career in 1961 as a bakery manager in Criuleni.
Rise to Success
Voronin's career trajectory led him through various roles in the Moldavian SSR administration. From 1966 to 1971, he held positions at bread factories. In 1985, he was appointed head of section in the Council of Ministers of the Moldavian SSR. Between 1985 and 1989, Voronin served as first secretary of the Bender City Committee of the Communist Party. From 1988 to 1990, he was Minister of Internal Affairs of the Moldavian SSR. In 1993, he became the co-president of the Organizational Committee for the creation of the Party of Communists of the Republic of Moldova (PCRM) and was elected President of the PCRM in 1994.
