Alan Zekelman was born and raised in Toronto, Canada, where he began his career in the steel industry. Not much is known about his early life but he was raised in a family involved in the steel industry.
Rise to Success

The Zekelman family regained majority control of JMC Steel Group later. The company was later renamed to Zekelman Industries.
