Lee Yin Yee, also known as Li Xianyi, was born in China in 1952. Growing up in a humble background, his early life remains relatively private. At the age of 15, he had to drop out of school and take up manual labor due to financial hardships.
Rise to Success
Lee's entrepreneurial journey began with his founding of Xinyi Glass in the late 1980s. Xinyi Glass produces glass products for the automobile, construction, and household goods industries. Under his leadership, Xinyi Glass has become a world-leading integrated glass manufacturer, playing a significant role in advancing the glass industry in China.
Key Business Strategies
Lee's key business strategy involved expanding Xinyi Glass into one of the world's largest glass manufacturers with operations spanning Asia, Europe, and North America. In addition to Xinyi Glass, Lee also founded Xinyi Solar, focusing on solar energy solutions. This diversification demonstrates Lee's commitment to innovation and contributing to China's renewable energy goals.
Philanthropy
Over the past forty years, Xinyi Group has donated over RMB100 million to charity and donated dozens of Hopeful Schools in China. In 2008, Dr. Lee was awarded the Medal of Honour by the HKSAR Government; in 2015, the Bronze Bauhinia Star from the HKSAR Government and the Datukship in Malaysia; then in 2023, the Silver Bauhinia Star from the HKSAR Government recognizing his active contribution to social services and benevolence.
