Early Life
Yang Huiyan was born in 1981 in Shunde, Guangdong, China. Her father, Yeung Kwok Keung, founded Country Garden in 1992. She was exposed to the real estate business from a young age and attended Ohio State University, graduating in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts/Science degree.
Rise to Success
In 2005, Yang joined Country Garden as a project manager. Her father transferred a significant 70% stake in the company to her in 2007 before its IPO, making her the majority shareholder and the richest woman in Asia. Under her leadership, Country Garden expanded significantly, developing numerous residential and commercial properties.

Yang's business strategy has focused on the expansion of Country Garden, making it one of China's largest real estate developers. The company's growth involved innovative construction methods and a focus on providing housing for China's growing middle class. Yang also serves as chairwoman of Bright Scholar Education Holdings, China's largest operator of international and bilingual K-12 schools.

In 2023, Yang donated approximately 55% of her personal stake in a property management firm to a charity founded by her younger sister. This donation, valued at around $826 million, aims to support various charitable causes in Hong Kong and mainland China.
