Early Life
William Fung Kwok Lun was born in Hong Kong on February 21, 1949. He is the grandson of Fung Pak-liu, who co-founded Li & Fung, and the son of Fung Hon-chu. He has a younger brother, Victor Fung, who is the chairman of the Fung Group. Fung attended Princeton University, graduating in 1970 with a degree in electrical engineering. He earned his MBA from Harvard Business School in 1972.
Rise to Success
Fung joined the family firm, Li & Fung, after completing his education. Under his leadership, the company expanded its operations to Taiwan, South Korea, Singapore, and China. He played a crucial role in transforming Li & Fung into a global trading powerhouse. Together with his brother, William drove the development of the supply chain infrastructure at Li & Fung, enabling it to become a leading consumer goods design, development, sourcing, and logistics company.
