Tseng-yu Tsai, also known as T.Y. Tsai, was born on January 1, 1953, in Taiwan. He is the son of Tsai Wan-lin, who built Cathay Life Insurance into a financial powerhouse. T.Y. Tsai grew up in a wealthy environment and developed an interest in business from an early age.

T.Y. Tsai started his career at Fubon Financial Holding Company, the family business. He held several leadership positions before deciding to forge his own path. In 2010, he sold his shares in Cathay Financial Holding and founded Homax Equity, a private equity firm. Under his leadership, Homax Equity has grown into a successful investment firm.
