Early Life and Education
Theodore Permadi Rachmat, or Teddy Rachmat, was born on December 15, 1943, in Majalengka, Indonesia. He graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB).
Career at Astra International
Rachmat's professional journey began in 1968 at Astra International, where he started as a salesman. He rose through the ranks and became the CEO of Astra Group, a position he held until his retirement in 2005. During his time at Astra, he played a key role in the company's growth.
Founding and Developing Triputra Group
In 1998, Teddy Rachmat founded the Triputra Group, a diversified conglomerate with interests in agribusiness, manufacturing, mining, and trading. Triputra Group has grown to become one of the largest privately held business groups in Indonesia. Triputra Agro Persada (TAP) and Kirana Megatara are some of the biggest companies in the group.

Rachmat's success is attributed to his strategic vision and ability to diversify. He has a strong focus on commodities, manufacturing, and services. He also invested in companies such as Adaro Energy and has expanded Triputra through both organic growth and strategic acquisitions. He aims to make Kirana the largest rubber processor in the world.
