Pawan Munjal was born in 1954 in India. He is the son of Brijmohan Lall Munjal, the founder of the Hero Group. Munjal earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra in 1976. This technical background provided him with foundational knowledge directly applicable to the family's manufacturing operations.
Rise to Success
Munjal joined the family business in 1979, starting at Majestic Auto, the group's initial venture into motorized two-wheelers. He took on a leadership role at Hero Honda Motors Limited (now Hero MotoCorp) in 2002 and became the CEO. He played a key role in the strategic planning and growth of the Hero Group. Under his guidance, Hero MotoCorp became the world's largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters.

Munjal led Hero MotoCorp through a significant transition, including the termination of its joint venture with Honda in 2011. He oversaw global expansion, with factories in Colombia and Bangladesh, and partnerships with companies like Harley-Davidson for premium bikes.
