Early Life and Education
Robert Joseph "Bob" Fisher was born on August 26, 1954, to Doris and Donald Fisher, the founders of Gap Inc. He has two brothers, William S. Fisher and John J. Fisher. He attended Phillips Exeter Academy and Princeton University, where he earned a bachelor's degree. He also holds a Master of Business Administration from Stanford University's School of Business.
Rise to Success
Fisher's career with Gap began in 1980 as a store manager. He progressed through the company, taking on increasing responsibilities in management and finance. He served as president of Banana Republic in 1989. In 1990, he became a member of the Board of Directors of Gap Inc.. From 1993 to 1995, he was the CFO, and later the COO. In 2004, he became chairman of the board of directors, and in November 2019, he was appointed interim CEO.
