Early Life
Nadir Burjorji Godrej was born in Mumbai, India, in 1951. He is a member of the prominent Parsi-Zoroastrian community and has deep roots in Mumbai, tracing back over two centuries. His father, Burjorji Godrej, was instrumental in the Godrej & Boyce company. Nadir has an older brother, Adi Godrej, who is also a billionaire. Nadir's family is deeply involved in the Godrej Group, which was founded by his uncle Ardeshir Godrej.
Rise to Success
Nadir Godrej's educational background includes degrees from IIT Bombay, MIT (B.S. in Chemical Engineering), Stanford University (M.S. in Engineering), and Harvard Business School (MBA). He joined the family business shortly after completing his MBA from Harvard in 1976, becoming a director of Godrej Soaps Limited (later Godrej Industries) in 1977. He has since served as the Managing Director of Godrej Industries since 2001, overseeing significant growth and diversification in chemicals, animal feed, and agricultural inputs. In 2021, he was appointed Chairman, leading the company's focus on green chemistry.

Under Nadir Godrej’s leadership, the Godrej Industries Group has adopted sustainable “Good and Green” strategies, integrating environmental and social responsibilities into its operations. He has been involved in research and holds several patents in agricultural chemicals and surfactants.
