Early Life
Nadir Burjorji Godrej was born in Mumbai, India, in 1951. He is a member of the Parsi community and follows the Zoroastrian religion. His family has been settled in Mumbai for over two centuries. He is the younger son of Burjorji Godrej and Jaiben Godrej. His uncle, Ardeshir Godrej, founded the Godrej Group of industries. Nadir studied at IIT Bombay, MIT (B.S. in Chemical Engineering), Stanford University (M.S. in Engineering), and Harvard Business School (MBA).
Rise to Success
Nadir Godrej joined the family business more than four decades ago. He is the managing director of Godrej Industries and the chairman of Godrej Agrovet. He has been instrumental in transforming, diversifying, and significantly scaling the Group businesses. Nadir Godrej is also known for his commitment to the 'Good & Green' strategies of the Godrej Group.
Key Business Strategies
Nadir Godrej has focused on sustainable practices, incorporating eco-friendly approaches across various sectors. He is also an independent director on the boards of several non-group companies, including Mahindra & Mahindra and Tata Teleservices. Nadir is deeply committed to the GOOD and GREEN strategies and achievement of set targets for the Godrej Group. In May 2024, the Godrej family announced an ownership realignment of their shareholdings in the Godrej Companies.
Philanthropy
Nadir Godrej supports various social causes through the Godrej Foundation. He is also a part of the advisory board of India's International Movement to Unite Nations (IIMUN).
