Early Life and Education
Cameron Adams was born in Australia in 1979. He pursued higher education at the University of Melbourne, where he earned a combined Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Laws degree. While he qualified in law, Adams's true passion resided in design and technology. He immersed himself in web development and creative software during his student years, which would shape his career path.
Rise to Success
After graduating, Adams initially worked as a freelance designer, developing interactive web experiences. In 2007, he joined Google, contributing to Google Wave, which influenced his understanding of real-time collaboration and product design. Adams later founded Fluent.io, an email startup, but it didn't achieve the same scale as his future venture. In 2012, he met Melanie Perkins and Cliff Obrecht, who were seeking advice for their design startup, which then turned into a full partnership. Adams joined as Canva's third co-founder in June 2012, leading product development.
