Martin Møller Nielsen was born in August 1964, in Denmark. His father died in a traffic accident when Nielsen was 8 years old.
Rise to Success
Nielsen founded Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC) in 1990 in Skive, Denmark. He has a pilot license, he reportedly bought a beaten up aircraft at 21, renovated it, and sold it for a large profit. NAC initially leased aircraft for humanitarian aid organizations looking to fly into remote areas. In 2015, Nielsen sold a 66% stake in NAC to private equity firms EQT and Kirkbi in a deal that valued the firm at $3.3 billion. He later brought on Singaporean sovereign wealth fund GIC as an investor and, in 2022, sold the last of his shares in NAC.
Key Business Strategies
Nielsen's key strategy was building Nordic Aviation Capital into a leading regional aircraft leasing company. He focused on leasing aircraft to regional airlines, creating a successful business model. After selling a majority stake in NAC, he established Axiom Group, a family office with investments across multiple industries.
