Early Life
Lindsay Edward Fox was born on April 19, 1937, in Sydney, Australia, and grew up in Prahran, Melbourne. His father was a truck driver. Fox attended Melbourne High School, but left during Year 10. At the age of 19, he purchased his first truck, a 1957 Ford F500.
Rise to Success
In 1956, Fox founded Linfox with a single truck. He started by transporting coal and soft drinks. Over the years, Linfox expanded to become one of Australia's largest privately-owned logistics companies. He expanded his business by securing contracts with major companies like Schweppes, BP, Coca-Cola, Coles, and Woolworths. Linfox now operates across the Asia-Pacific region.

Key strategies included building strong relationships with customers, focusing on efficiency and innovation, and expanding through strategic acquisitions. Linfox has diversified its operations, including owning airports and currency management. Fox has been known to personally test-drive new truck models for Linfox.
Philanthropy
Lindsay and his family are dedicated to giving back through their Fox Family Foundation. The foundation focuses on supporting people with chronic illnesses. He was also a key figure in the ‘Work for Australia’ campaign, which aimed to create jobs with government subsidies. He has donated $100 million to the National Gallery of Victoria towards the construction of the NGV Contemporary.
