Early Life
Harsh Vardhan Goenka was born on December 23, 1957, in Kolkata, West Bengal, into a prominent Marwari business family. He is the eldest son of R.P. Goenka, the founder of RPG Enterprises. Goenka completed his undergraduate studies in Economics at St. Xavier's College, Kolkata. He later earned an MBA from the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Rise to Success
Goenka began his professional career in Mumbai. At the age of 24, in 1983, he became the Managing Director of CEAT Ltd. He succeeded his father, R. P. Goenka, as Chairman of RPG Enterprises in 1988. During the 1980s and 1990s, he led a series of mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures, transforming RPG Enterprises into a diversified conglomerate. Under his leadership, the group established collaborations with multinational corporations such as Goodyear, DuPont, and Vodafone. He has been instrumental in transforming RPG Enterprises into a diversified conglomerate with a global footprint.

Philanthropy
Harsh Goenka serves as a trustee of the RPG Foundation and the RPG Art Foundation. These foundations undertake various social initiatives in areas such as primary education, women's empowerment, healthcare, and urban beautification. He commissioned the “Wall of Gratitude” in May 2020 to honor India's frontline workers during the pandemic. Goenka also serves as a member of the National Art Advisory Committee for the National Gallery of Modern Art and is part of the Council of the National Culture Fund under India's Ministry of Culture.
