Faruk Eczacibasi was born in Istanbul, Turkey, in 1954. He comes from a prominent business family, with his father, Nejat Eczacıbaşı, being a renowned industrialist and philanthropist. Faruk received his education from the Deutsche Schule Istanbul and later earned his Bachelor's and MBA degrees from Technische Universität Berlin's School of Management.

Faruk Eczacibasi's career began in 1980 when he joined the Eczacıbaşı Group's planning department. He played an instrumental role in the Group's computerization and e-transformation processes, heading Eczacıbaşı Information and Communication Technologies. He became the Vice Chairman of the Eczacıbaşı Group in 1996.
