Faruk Eczacıbaşı was born in Istanbul, Turkey, in 1954. He comes from a prominent business family; his father, Nejat Eczacıbaşı, was a well-known industrialist and philanthropist. Faruk received his education at the German High School of Istanbul and holds undergraduate and MBA degrees from the Berlin Technical University's School of Management.

Faruk Eczacıbaşı embarked on his professional journey within the Eczacıbaşı Group in 1980, joining the planning department. He played a pivotal role in the company's computerization and e-transformation processes, heading the Eczacıbaşı Information and Communication Technologies. In 1996, he was appointed as the Vice Chairman of the Eczacıbaşı Group, a position he continues to hold. Additionally, he has served as the president of the Turkish Informatics Foundation (TBV) since 1995, contributing to Turkey's transformation into an information society.
