Evgeny Markovich Shvidler, known as Eugene Shvidler, was born on March 23, 1964, in Ufa, Russia. He is from a Jewish family. His father was a Soviet geologist. In 1989, he moved to the United States.
Rise to Success
Shvidler partnered with Roman Abramovich in the early 1990s, forming the oil trading outfit Runicom S.A.. They gained control of the oil giant Sibneft in 1995. Shvidler served as Senior Vice President and President of Sibneft from 1998 to 2005, a period during which the company experienced significant growth. His business acumen and partnership with Abramovich were key to his rise in the business world.
