Drayton McLane Jr. is a prominent American businessman, philanthropist, and civic leader. Born on July 22, 1936, McLane is known for transforming his family's wholesale grocery distribution business, McLane Company, into a nationally recognized logistics and supply chain powerhouse. He expanded the company significantly, increasing its revenue from $3 million to $19 billion. McLane sold the company to Sam Walton of Walmart in 1990, becoming Vice Chairman of Walmart. His career includes a significant tenure as the owner and CEO of the Houston Astros, culminating in the team's first World Series appearance.
