Della Valle joined the family shoemaking business in 1975 and took control in 1978, renaming it J.P. Tod's. He is credited with transforming the small family business into a global luxury brand. His vision involved designing the 'driving shoe', a casual shoe that combined comfort and elegance. He utilized innovative marketing, including celebrity endorsements, to boost brand recognition and sales, leading to significant financial expansion.
