Constantinos "Dinos" Martinos was born in Glyfada, Athens, Greece, on January 28, 1953. He comes from the historic Martinos family, which has a rich legacy in Greek shipping. His mother, Athina Martinos (née Methenitis), was one of the first female shipowners in Greece, founding Thenamaris in 1971. This family background laid the foundation for his future in the shipping industry.

Martinos began his involvement in the family shipping business in the mid-1960s, helping manage the family fleet. In 1972, he co-founded Thenamaris Ships Management with his mother and brothers, Athanasios and Andreas. Although his brothers later established their own ventures, Constantinos remained at the helm of Thenamaris, guiding its growth over the years.
