Early Life
Tei-Fu Chen was born in 1948 in southern Taiwan. As a child, Chen struggled with health issues. His grandfather introduced him to traditional Chinese herbal remedies, which sparked a lifelong interest in herbal medicine. Chen later studied herbal medicine and pharmacology. In 1974, he immigrated to the United States with his wife, Oi-Lin Chen. They initially faced financial difficulties.
