Early Life and Education
Cai Haoyu was born in Jinan, Shandong, China, on July 29, 1987. From a young age, he displayed a keen interest in computers and video games. This early exposure led him to pursue higher education in computer science at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, where he earned both Bachelor's and Master's degrees. During his university years, he met Liu Wei and Luo Yuhao, with whom he would later co-found miHoYo.
Rise to Success
In 2011, Cai, along with Liu Wei and Luo Yuhao, established miHoYo. The company began as a literary open-source community before transitioning into game development. Cai started making his first game, FlyMe2theMoon, in 2010. miHoYo's breakthrough came with Honkai Impact 3rd, and later with the global phenomenon *Genshin Impact*, which launched in September 2020. *Genshin Impact* generated over $4 billion in revenue within its first two years, attracting millions of players worldwide.
