Early Life and Education
Arun Bharat Ram was born in Delhi, India, into the Shriram family, a well-known industrial family. He pursued a degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Michigan in the USA, which helped him to imbibe modern industrial techniques. He also acquired a Vor-Diplom from the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany.
Rise to Success
Ram began his career in 1967 with DCM Ltd. (formerly Delhi Cloth & General Mills). In 1971, he founded SRF Limited, initially manufacturing nylon tyre cord fabric. Under his leadership, SRF transformed from a technical textiles manufacturer into a global player in chemicals, technical textiles, and packaging films. He expanded SRF's operations to over 90 countries.

Arun Bharat Ram focused on innovation, sustainability, and ethical business practices. He spearheaded SRF's diversification into specialty chemicals and packaging films, and expanding the company's global presence. Key strategies included the adoption of Total Quality Management (TQM) and a commitment to long-term planning.
