Anatoly Georgievich Skurov was born on December 7, 1952, in the Tula Oblast, Russian SFSR, USSR. He graduated from the Mining Department of the Tula Polytechnic Institute in 1975. His career began at the Kopeisk Engineering Plant, a major manufacturer of underground mining machines and equipment.
Rise to Success
Skurov's career progressed, and he became the Chief Technical Designer and Head of the Plant's Design Bureau in 1988. He holds 41 patents and inventor's certificates for inventions in the coal mining industry. In 1994, he joined the state-owned coal producer Rosugol. The following year, he co-founded the coal producer Sibuglemet, where he served as CEO. In 2011, he acquired a stake in the Russian potash producer Uralkali.
