Early Life and Education
Anatoly Mikhailovich Sedykh was born on November 28, 1964, in the Murmansk Region, Russia. He graduated from the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys (MISiS) with a degree in Engineering. He later earned a doctorate in Economics.
Rise to Success
Sedykh began his career in the metallurgical sector. In 1989, he started a joint venture in scrap metal recycling with a loan from Sberbank. By 1999, Sedykh and his partners had become controlling shareholders of the Vyksunsky Metallurgical Plant (VMP), a pipe producer. This acquisition served as the foundation for the United Metallurgical Company (OMK), which he later established. Under his leadership, OMK grew to become Russia's second-largest pipe producer and the largest manufacturer of railway wheels.

Sedykh's strategic vision has been instrumental in OMK's success. He focused on modernizing production facilities, implementing advanced technologies, and enhancing operational efficiency. These strategies have enabled OMK to maintain a competitive edge in the global steel market.
