Albert Alikovich Avdolyan was born on November 8, 1970, in Krasnodar Krai, Russia. His family is of Armenian descent. He spent his childhood in Irkutsk, where his parents were involved in the garment industry. Avdolyan obtained a Master of Laws degree from Irkutsk State University, providing a legal foundation for his later business ventures.
Rise to Success
Avdolyan's career began in the telecommunications sector. In 2007, he co-founded Scartel LLC, which later operated under the Yota brand. Yota pioneered LTE services in Russia. In 2013, Avdolyan sold his stake in Yota, generating capital for diversification. Subsequently, he shifted his focus to the energy sector, acquiring significant holdings in mining and oil projects. A key aspect of this transition was his investment in the Elga Coal Complex, one of Russia's largest coking coal reserves. He has also been involved in infrastructure projects, including a private railroad to connect Yakutia's coal deposits to a port.
