Early Life
Walter Frey was born in Zurich, Switzerland, on July 30, 1943. He is the son of Emil Frey, who founded an automotive repair shop in 1924 that would eventually become the Emil Frey Group. Frey studied at the London School of Economics and the University of Zurich.
Rise to Success
In 1969, Walter Frey took over the management of the Emil Frey Group, an automotive importer and dealership. Under his leadership, the company expanded significantly, becoming one of Europe's largest automotive dealership groups. His success is built on scale, logistics, and dominating the European market for new and used vehicle sales and service. He also served in the Swiss parliament from 1987 to 2001 and is the president of the Zurich ice hockey club ZSC Lions.
