Early Life

Magdalena Martullo-Blocher was born Magdalena Blocher on August 13, 1969, in Männedorf, Switzerland. She is the oldest of four children. Her father, Christoph Blocher, acquired Ems-Chemie in the 1970s, transforming it into a successful multinational conglomerate. She graduated from the University of St. Gallen with a degree in Business Administration.

Rise to Success

Martullo-Blocher began her career at Johnson & Johnson from 1994 to 1996 as a Product Manager. From 1996 to 2000, she worked as a Marketing Manager for Rivella AG. In January 2001, she joined the Ems Group and became a member of the Board of Directors eight months later. She served as Vice Chairman of the Ems Group from August 2002. In January 2004, she took over the management of EMS-Chemie after her father's election to the Federal Council, becoming the majority shareholder. In 2015, she was elected to the Swiss parliament as a national councilor.
