Early Life
Vinod Saraf was born in a middle-class family in Rajasthan. He was the eldest of seven children. From a young age, he recognized the importance of education. He completed his schooling in a Hindi medium school and excelled in his studies.
Rise to Success
Vinod Saraf's professional journey began with challenges. Despite excelling academically, he faced difficulties in securing positions in multinational corporations due to his Hindi-language background. His strong math skills caught the attention of a textile entrepreneur, marking the beginning of his career. Over the next decade, Saraf worked in various textile companies before joining the Birla Group. He eventually became the Managing Director of Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL). In 1989, Saraf founded Vinati Organics.
Key Business Strategies
Vinati Organics initially focused on manufacturing isobutyl benzene, the raw material for ibuprofen. The company expanded its product portfolio, including 2-acrylamido 2 methylpropane sulfonic acid (ATBS), and became a major global producer. The company expanded its production capacity. Vinati Saraf's daughter, Vinati Mutreja, joined the company, which improved the company's status. She now runs the company as its MD and CEO.
Philanthropy
Vinati Organics is involved in various community empowerment initiatives, particularly in the Raigad and Ratnagiri districts of Maharashtra. The company focuses on long-term sustainable development through programs like skill development centers and green infrastructure projects.
