Early Life
Vadim Moshkovich was born in Moscow, Russia, in 1967, to a Jewish family. He attended mathematical school No. 57 in Moscow and graduated from the Moscow State Institute of Radio Engineering, Electronics, and Automation in 1992.
Rise to Success
Moshkovich began his career in business in 1995, importing sugar. He acquired sugar processing plants from 1997 to 2003. In 2004, he established Rusagro Group, which became one of the largest vertically integrated agricultural holdings in Russia. Rusagro operates in four business segments: sugar, oilseeds, meat, and grain. In 2011, Rosagro Plc., the main holding company of Rusagro Group, conducted an IPO on the London Stock Exchange, raising approximately $300 million. Moshkovich currently holds a 75% stake in the company. Moshkovich also controls Masshtab, a major Russian development company focused on New Moscow.
Key Business Strategies
Moshkovich's key business strategy involved vertical integration in the agricultural sector and strategic investments in land and real estate. He expanded Rusagro through acquisitions and focused on developing a strong infrastructure. Rusagro Group has become a significant player in the Russian market, with revenues of 277.3 billion rubles (approx. $3.9 billion) in 2023.
Philanthropy
Moshkovich is known for his philanthropic activities, which include funding a school for gifted children in Kommunarka (New Moscow). The project cost is estimated at $250 million. He is also a donor and member of the Board of Trustees of the National Research University – Higher School of Economics in Moscow and Belgorod State Research University, as well as the Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center in Moscow.
