Early Life and Education
Satya Narayana Nadella was born on August 19, 1967, in Hyderabad, India. Growing up in a Telugu-speaking Hindu family, his father was an Indian Administrative Service officer, and his mother was a Sanskrit lecturer. Nadella attended the Hyderabad Public School before earning a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the Manipal Institute of Technology in 1988. He then moved to the United States, obtaining a master's degree in computer science from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee in 1990 and later an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business in 1997.
Rise to Success
Nadella began his career at Sun Microsystems before joining Microsoft in 1992. At Microsoft, he held various roles, including a program manager in the Windows developer relations group. He played key roles in developing Microsoft's cloud computing platforms, such as Microsoft Azure. By 1999, he became the vice president of Microsoft's bCentral small-business service. In 2011, he became the executive vice president of Microsoft's Cloud and Enterprise group. In February 2014, Nadella succeeded Steve Ballmer as CEO of Microsoft, and in 2021, he became Chairman.

Under Nadella's leadership, Microsoft has undergone a significant transformation. His strategic focus on cloud computing, particularly Microsoft Azure, has been a major driver of growth.
