Early Life
Born on March 16, 1964, Todd Wanek's early life was steeped in the world of furniture. During his high school and college years, he worked in various roles at Ashley Furniture, gaining hands-on experience in shipping, production, and manufacturing. This early exposure laid the groundwork for his future leadership role. Wanek's father, Ron Wanek, started a furniture plant in Arcadia, Wisconsin, in 1970, and six years later, acquired Ashley Furniture.
Rise to Success
After graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Stout with a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Technologies, Todd Wanek embarked on a career that would transform the furniture industry. His leadership journey at Ashley Furniture began with managing the company's factories in Asia, where he spent five years, from 1989-1993, establishing and managing Ashley Furniture Industries' business development in China, Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan, and Indonesia. Returning to the U.S. in 1994, Wanek spearheaded the acquisition of an upholstery manufacturing operation, and in 1996, he was promoted to President and COO. He was named CEO in 2002.
