Early Life
Salil Singhal was born in 1946 in Allahabad, India. He completed his education at St. Xavier's College, Mumbai. In 1965, he joined his father, a first-generation entrepreneur, to help grow their family business in Udaipur, Rajasthan.
Rise to Success
Salil Singhal has been associated with the industry sector since 1965. He took over the family business in 1979 after the demise of his father, the founder. The family's business interests include agrochemicals, fine chemicals, electronic metering services and solutions, and mining and mineral processing. PI Industries, under his leadership, has grown into a leading agricultural input and custom synthesis and manufacturing company in India. Singhal focused on making PI Industries a billion-dollar chemical company. He actively contributed to the formulation of government policies and regulatory frameworks in areas such as agriculture, agrochemicals, and environment protection. He was the Chairman of the Pesticides Association of India for 20 years.
