Early Life and Education
Rajiv Bajaj was born on December 21, 1966, to Rahul Bajaj, the former Chairman of Bajaj Auto. He is the great-grandson of Jamnalal Bajaj, the founder of the Bajaj Group. He completed his schooling at St Ursula High School in Pune. Rajiv graduated with distinction in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pune in 1988 and earned a master's degree in Manufacturing Systems Engineering from the University of Warwick in 1990.
Rise to Success
Rajiv Bajaj joined Bajaj Auto in 1990, working in various departments, including Manufacturing & Supply Chain, R&D and Engineering, and Marketing and Sales. He became the Managing Director of Bajaj Auto in April 2005. Under his leadership, Bajaj Auto shifted its focus from scooters to motorcycles, a move that significantly boosted the company's growth. The launch of the Pulsar range of motorcycles in 2001 was a pivotal moment, redefining the performance motorcycle segment in India and revitalizing the company's fortunes.
