Early Life
Peter Leibinger was born in Stuttgart, Germany, in April 1967. He is one of three children of Berthold Leibinger and Doris Leibinger. His father, Berthold, joined TRUMPF in 1961 and played a key role in the company's growth. Peter studied mechanical engineering at RWTH Aachen University, earning a degree in mechanical engineering.
Rise to Success
Leibinger's career began in engineering in the United States. He later joined his family's business, TRUMPF. From 2003 to 2018, he served as CEO of TRUMPF's Laser Technology and Electronics Division. In July 2023, he became the Chairman of the Supervisory Board. In November 2024, Leibinger was elected President of the Federation of German Industries (BDI), a role he assumed on January 1, 2025.
