Early Life and Education
Peter Leibinger was born on April 23, 1967, in Stuttgart, Germany. He studied mechanical engineering at the Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule (RWTH) in Aachen, Germany. He graduated in 1986 from Robert-Bosch-Gymnasium in Gerlingen.
Career and Rise to Success
Before joining TRUMPF, Leibinger worked as an engineer at Ingersoll Milling Machine Company in Rockford, IL, from 1997 to 1999. In 2005, he became deputy chairman of the management board of TRUMPF. He was appointed Chief Technology Officer (CTO) in 2017. In July 2023, he took over as Chairman of the Supervisory Board. In September 2024, he was proposed as the successor of Siegfried Russwurm, then president of the Federation of German Industries (BDI). He was elected BDI president in November 2024 and took office on January 1, 2025.
