Pavel Durov was born on October 10, 1984, in Leningrad, Soviet Union. His father is a philology professor, and his family spent time in Italy during his childhood. Durov studied English and Translation at Saint Petersburg State University, where he graduated with honors.
Rise to Success
Durov's entrepreneurial journey began with VKontakte (VK), a social network he co-founded in 2006, which quickly gained popularity. However, Durov faced pressure from Russian authorities, leading him to sell his stake in VK and leave the country. In 2013, he and his brother Nikolai founded Telegram, an encrypted messaging service. The company is headquartered in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
