Pan Dong, born in 1965, prioritized education early in life. She obtained Bachelor's and Master's degrees in organic chemistry from Wuhan University in 1987. Following a period as a post-secondary teacher, she furthered her education with a Master of Business Administration from Lawrence Technological University in Michigan.

In 1992, Pan Dong, along with her husband Luo Qiuping, utilized her organic chemistry knowledge to develop a liquid kitchen detergent. This product became the flagship offering for their venture. Two years later, in 1994, they co-founded Blue Moon Group Holdings Ltd. in Guangzhou. Initially, Pan served as a technical assistant while her husband was CEO. Her meticulous management and technological expertise led to her receiving company stakes from her husband and his father. Pan was later appointed as the chief technology officer in 2003.
