Early Life
Maritsa Lazari was born in October 1943 in Dora, Cyprus. She spent her early years in Cyprus before immigrating to London at the age of 16. She met her future husband, Chris Lazari, in the UK, and they married in 1965.
Rise to Success
In the 1960s, Chris Lazari created the fashion line Drendie Girl, and in 1978, the couple used profits from the company to invest in commercial property. Maritsa became a director of the property investment business, Lazari Investments, which owns several commercial and residential developments in London, including the Brunswick Centre. This marked the beginning of her significant contributions to the UK's real estate sector.
Key Business Strategies
Maritsa Lazari, along with her late husband, focused on acquiring and developing commercial properties in prime London locations. Lazari Investments expanded its portfolio to over 3 million square feet of commercial space and 850 residential units across eight London estates. The company's strategy prioritized long-term holdings.
Philanthropy
In 2017, Maritsa and her family founded the Christo Lazari Foundation in memory of her late husband. The foundation supports Cypriot, Greek Orthodox, and medical causes. She also donated investment property worth £3.25 million to the children's charity Radiomarathan.
