He was recruited by Checkpoint in 1994, where he became part of a team that invented the "stateful inspection" technology, a foundational element of network security. In 1997, Zuk moved to the US to work at Checkpoint's U.S. headquarters. He founded OneSecure, the first intrusion prevention system, which was later acquired by NetScreen, then Juniper Networks. In 2005, Zuk founded Palo Alto Networks with 25 colleagues. The company released its first product in 2007, the world's first "next-generation firewall". Under his leadership, Palo Alto Networks has developed advanced firewalls, serving over 70,000 organizations globally, including many Fortune 500 companies.
Key Business Strategies
Zuk's strategy included anticipating the growing need for network security due to increasing application complexity and network consumption. Palo Alto Networks developed a platform including advanced firewalls and cloud-based offerings to extend firewalls to cover other aspects of security.
