Early Life
Madan Mohanka was born in 1943 and is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A). He also holds a degree in engineering from Ranchi University. During his time at IIM-A, he gained insights that later influenced his business and philanthropic endeavors. Mohanka's early experiences instilled in him a strong sense of social responsibility, which he later integrated into his business practices.
Rise to Success
Mohanka founded Tega Industries in 1976, and under his leadership, the company has become a global leader. His vision involved introducing innovative technologies, such as replacing steel with rubber in the mining industry, which initially posed challenges but ultimately led to significant growth. Mohanka's strategic decisions, including acquiring the entire equity stake of Skega in 2001, and securing funding from Wagner in 2011, were pivotal to Tega's expansion. Tega Industries went public in December 2021.

He has also extended support to the Swapnopuron Welfare Society for Education and Child Protection. He has also provided assistance to the Disha India Community School. In recognition of his philanthropic endeavors, he received the Times Philanthropy Honours in 2022.
