Early Life and Education
Luo Yuhao's journey began at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, where he studied computer science. During his studies, he developed a passion for technology and the ACG (anime, comics, and games) culture. It was during this time that he met his future co-founders of miHoYo, Cai Haoyu and Liu Wei.
Rise to Success
In 2012, Luo, along with Cai and Liu, co-founded miHoYo, a company that would later become a powerhouse in the mobile gaming industry. Their first project was a mobile game called FlyMe2theMoon. The company found early success with Honkai series. However, the true breakthrough came with Genshin Impact, an open-world action role-playing game released in 2020, which quickly gained global popularity. Following the global success of Genshin Impact, miHoYo launched Honkai: Star Rail in 2023, which also saw significant success. As of December 2024, miHoYo is valued at approximately $20 billion, with Luo Yuhao serving as the Vice President.
Key Business Strategies
miHoYo's success can be attributed to several key strategies. The company focuses on creating high-quality, anime-style games with rich storylines. miHoYo also adopted a free-to-play model with in-game purchases, which has proven to be a lucrative revenue model. Another critical strategy is the company's strong emphasis on technological research and innovation.
Philanthropy
miHoYo has shown a commitment to social responsibility through its philanthropic initiatives, including the Xinhuo Charity Program. The company has donated to various causes, including supporting youth education and providing relief during emergencies.
